Party planning does not have to be difficult.  It is wise to go for a small party for your first endeavor.  You could actually ask for help from others who have already thrown a party that you attended.  People can be really helpful if they are only asked.

 

You can use simple to fix snacks and make a punch.  Punch is cheaper in the long run, rather than trying to fix drinks for everyone.  You do not have to please everyone with your choice, that can usually be quite difficult.  Your goal would be to please the majority and then have a few simple alternatives.

 

Deciding what kind of party, when and where it will take place will determine what to serve.  If you have an afternoon party the food can be very simple such as a cake and ice cream.  If party is at dinner time than you will be expected to feed your guests a dinner.  Are you prepared for this undertaking?  If so then unless you have superior culinary skills, go for something you know how to fix that always comes out good and doesn’t keep you locked in the kitchen for hours.  You want to enjoy your guests and they want to visit with you.
